dc.description.abstractThe process of electing officials is an essential part of guaranteeing the legitimacy of the democratic system. Since 1991, the country has experienced important transformations in the system of election of the Comptroller General of the Republic and territorial comptrollers. These changes have had the main objective of promoting transparency, accountability, meritocracy and efficiency in the public sector. This article will delve into these changes driven by the original and derived constituent power, focusing on the influence of democratic and merit principles.
