Abstract

En los pacientes con glaucoma además del estudio del nervio óptico y de la retina peripapilar, es importante evaluar la región macular, debido a que en esta zona se encuentra la mayor parte de células ganglionares y éstas se encuentran afectadas en esta enfermedad. Se ha demostrado que existen cambios vasculares en el área macular en pacientes con glaucoma primario de ángulo abierto a través de la angiografía por tomografía de coherencia óptica, y que se puede evaluar cambios en la zona foveal avascular como el área, perímetro y circularidad que nos ayudarán a hacer un diagnóstico y seguimiento de estos pacientes.
