dc.description.abstractThe present investigation aimed to determine the characteristics of Vancomycin 500mg consumption in the service of Internal Medicine, Hospital Nacional Edgardo Rebagliati Martins in 2010, being a descriptive and retrospective. Consumption was determined using the Defined Daily Doses (DDD) is an international technical unit of measurement of drug consumption proposed by WHO. The annual consumption of vancomycin in the service of Internal Medicine, Hospital Nacional Edgardo Rebagliati Martins was 15 777 units with a DDD/100 beds / annual day of 4.45 with the months of March and April the most consumed with 5.83 DDD/100camas / day, 5, 86 DDD/100camas / day, respectively, likewise found that consumption tends to decrease with a correlation factor (r = 0.23) were statistically not significant (p = 0.85). Antibacterial spending in the service in 2010 at the National Hospital Edgardo Rebagliati Martins was S /. 35498.25 and the trend is to decrease (r = 0.2) were statistically not significant (p = 0.41)
