Description: The purpose of the Senior Capstone is to serve as a culminating experience, which demonstrates the ability to synthesize the knowledge gained throughout the major. The capstone requires students to write a thesis on their work. Some theses will be more focused on data analysis and theory while others may be more focused on a design All students are encouraged to work with a capstone mentor. The capstone mentor can help the student find sources, revise their work, or provide feedback for research. Students are encouraged to work with faculty or professionals who have similar interests as the student. Mentors do not necessarily need to come from CAPLA. Keep in mind professors are very busy; however, they are willing to make time to work with you, provided you are ready to put forth a good effort and work. Keep in mind this is not an internship. However, your capstone might be an extension or continuation of an internship project. Students will be required to present their final product during an informational poster session at the end of the semester. The CAPLA community and outside members will be invited to the poster session. The presentation of the Senior Capstone thesis helps a student improve skills related to writing a technical report, poster preparation and presentation, and oral communication. All Capstone work will be published on the CAPLA website and UA Library repository.
