Exploración del mercado de la interpretación en Lima, Perú

Abstract

El presente estudio buscó describir la situación actual del mercado de la interpretación en Lima, Perú, ya que estudios recientes sobre este tema y de esta amplitud en la capital del Perú son escasos. Por tanto, se buscó conocer la modalidad y el entorno de interpretación más demandados y la tarifa por jornada de interpretación. Se empleó una metodología cuantitativa transversal para la obtención de los resultados. Se realizaron encuestas cara-a-cara en papel a los 47 proveedores de servicios de interpretación. Se determinó que la modalidad más requerida es la simultánea, que no existe una tarifa estándar en el mercado, que el entorno con mayor porcentaje es el técnico y, por el contrario, los entornos jurídico y médico registran los menores porcentajes. Con este estudio, se busca dar una visión del mercado de la interpretación y ser punto de partida para mayores investigaciones que deseen profundizar sobre el auge e importancia de la interpretación en el Perú.

This study sought to describe the current situation of the interpreting industry in Lima, since there is a lacking of recent studies in the capital of Peru. Therefore, we sought to find the most demanded mode and setting, and the fee per day. A quantitative cross-sectional study was used to obtain the results. Forty seven interpretation service providers were surveyed face-to-face. It was determined that the most required mode is the simultaneous mode, there is no standard fee in the industry, and the setting with the highest percentage is the technical setting. Conversely, the legal and medical settings show the lowest percentages. With this study, we seek to show the interpreting industry and be a starting point for further research that may deepen into the rise and importance of interpreting in Peru.
