| dc.description | Introduction. Currently, endodontic treatment is one of the most performed procedures in conservative dentistry. One of the most important steps is the disinfection of the root canals since microorganisms can be found there and they can interfere with the success of the treatment. Objective. To analyze the effect of different irrigants on the removal of the smear layer during endodontic treatment through a bibliographic review. Methodology. This research is a bibliographic-based study that analyzed scientific articles about endodontic irrigants, the information was collected from scientific databases such as Google Scholar, PubMed, Scielo, Science Direct, Elsevier, and others, directing the analysis to dependent and independent variables to develop a guide on the correct use of endodontic irrigants. Results. 80 articles were reviewed to analyze the effect of many irrigants on removing the smear layer during endodontic treatment; 57 articles were selected to meet the inclusion criteria. Most publications were qualitative and descriptive documents, published between 2019 and 2022 mainly from the United States. The distribution by the database was: Pubmed 54.2%, Google Scholar (3.4%), and Korea Med (3.4%). 27.45% of the articles corresponded to the Q1 quartile. Regarding the citation count and the SJR impact factor, it was found that in 2018, 42 citations were recorded with an SJR impact factor of 1.14, representing the highest one. Conclusion. It is concluded that each irrigant fulfills a specific function, currently, there is no single substance that ideally eliminates organic and inorganic tissue and microorganisms from the root canals, therefore, it is determined that irrigation must be a combination of the irrigants interspersed to disinfect. | en-US |
| dc.description | Introducción. En la actualidad el tratamiento endodóntico es uno de los procedimientos más efectuados en la Odontología conservadora. Uno de los pasos más importante es la desinfección de los conductos radiculares ya que, en ellos se pueden encontrar microorganismos que pueden interferir en el éxito del tratamiento. Objetivo. Analizar el efecto de distintos irrigantes en la eliminación del barrillo dentinario durante el tratamiento endodóntico mediante una revisión bibliográfica. Metodología. Estudio de base bibliográfico ejecutado mediante una búsqueda de artículos científicos sobre los irrigantes utilizados en Endodoncia, se recopiló información de bases de datos científicos tales como: Google Scholar, PubMed, Scielo, Science Direct, Elsevier, entre otros, dirigiendo el análisis a las variables tanto dependiente como independiente para desarrollar una guía sobre el correcto uso de los irrigantes endodónticos. Resultados. Se revisaron 80 artículos para analizar el efecto de diversos irrigantes en la eliminación del barrillo dentinario durante el tratamiento endodóntico, se seleccionaron 57 artículos que cumplieron con los criterios de inclusión. La mayoría de las publicaciones fueron de tipo cualitativo y descriptivo publicados entre 2019 y 2022, provenientes principalmente de Estados Unidos. La distribución por base de datos fue de la siguiente manera: Pubmed 54.2%, Google Scholar (3.4%) y a Korea Med (3.4%). El 27,45% de artículos correspondieron al cuartil Q1. Con respecto al promedio de conteo de citas y el factor de impacto SJR se encontró que en 2018 se registraron 42 citas con un factor de impacto SJR de 1.14 representando al más elevado. Conclusión. Se concluyó que cada irrigante cumple una función específica, en la actualidad no existe una única sustancia que cumpla idealmente con la eliminación de tejido orgánico, inorgánico y microrganismos presentes en los conductos, por ello, se determinó que la irrigación debe ser una combinación de los irrigantes de manera intercalada para desinfectar.
