dc.descriptionA prospective longitudinal descriptive study was conducted in patients with some degree of sexual erectile dysfunction at the Healt Centre Enterprise in the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, during the period October 2016 to June 2019, in order to describe the behaviour of the acupuncture method in this disease. The following variables were used: age, etiology, degree of sexual erectile dysfunction, clinical evolution, adverse reactions, and age of onset of the disease. The total number of male patients in the above mentioned clinic was taken as the universe, 2967 patients, and as a sample the 158 patients with sexual erectile dysfunction treated with acupuncture, through selection, by inclusion and exclusion criteria. A predominance was found in the 35-40 year age group with 98 patients for 55.00%, a time of disease evolution of less than one year with 98 patients (55.00 %), and a predominance of satisfactory response to treatment in 89.00 % of patients, with absence of adverse reactions in 83.00 %. We therefore concluded that acupuncture is an effective option for patients with sexual erectile dysfunction.en-US
dc.descriptionSe realizó un estudio descriptivo longitudinal prospectivo en pacientes con algún grado de disfunción sexual eréctil en el Healt Centre Enterprise en la Republica Cooperativa de Guyana, durante el periodo de octubre del 2016 a junio del 2019, con el objetivo de describir el comportamiento del método acupuntural en dicha enfermedad. Se utilizó las siguientes variables: edad, etiología, grado de Disfunción Sexual Eréctil, evolución Clínica, reacciones adversas y edad de comienzo de la enfermedad. Se tomó como universo el total de pacientes masculinos del ambulatorio anteriormente mencionado, 2967 pacientes y como muestra los 158 pacientes con disfunción sexual eréctil tratados con acupuntura, a través de la selección, por criterios de inclusión y exclusión. Se constató un predominio en el grupo de edades de 35 a 40 años con 98 pacientes para un 55,00%, un tiempo de evolución de la enfermedad menor de un año con 98 enfermos (55,00 %), y predominó la respuesta satisfactoria al tratamiento en el 89.00 % de los pacientes, con ausencia de reacciones adversas en el 83,00%. Por lo que concluimos que la acupuntura es una opción efectiva para los pacientes con disfunción sexual eréctil.es-ES
