dc.description | El objetivo del presente estudio es analizar las estadísticas y factores asociados a la ansiedad,
depresión y miedo al COVID-19 en estudiantes universitarios de especial protección
constitucional, de una universidad en la ciudad de Barranquilla – Colombia, matriculados en la
Corporación Universitaria Americana. Método: Estudio transversal “eSalud, mediante de
valoraciones en línea evaluó a 1054 estudiantes NARP (Negros, Afrocolombianos, Raizales y
Palenqueros), Indígenas, Pueblo Rom, Desmovilizados y LGTBIQ. Resultados: el 33,40% de los
estudiantes exhibía síntomas de depresión y un poco más del 40% ansiedad y miedo al Covid-19.
Entre los principales factores de riesgo para experimentar alteraciones emocionales estaba entre
los estudiantes NARP y las víctimas del conflicto armado. Estar en el estrato 1 aumentaba el riesgo
1,6 veces y la comunidad LGTBIQ. Como factor de protección, se encontraba en pertenecer a
comunidades indígenas y las mujeres los cuales exhibieron menor riesgo de padecer estos
problemas de salud mental. Conclusión: es alarmante la significativa carga de alteraciones
psicológicas y miedo al covid-19 en la población estudiada que puede transitar hacia la expresión
de otros trastornos mentales. Es necesario continuar estudiando los factores personales y culturales
protectores para minimizar la incidencia de la ansiedad y la depresión en población universitaria. | |
dc.description | The objective of this study is to analyze the statistics and factors associated with anxiety,
depression and fear of COVID-19 in university students of special constitutional protection, from
a university in the city of Barranquilla - Colombia, enrolled in the Corporación Universitaria
Americana. Method: Cross-sectional study "eHealth, through online evaluations 1054 NARP
(black, Afro-Colombian, Raizal and Palenquero), indigenous, gypsy, demobilized and LGTBIQ
students were evaluated. Results: 33.40% of the students presented symptoms of depression and
slightly more than 40% anxiety and fear of Covid-19. Among the main risk factors for experiencing
emotional disturbances were NARP students and victims of the armed conflict. Belonging to
stratum 1 increased the risk 1.6 times and the LGTBIQ community. As a protective factor,
belonging to indigenous communities and women presented a lower risk of suffering from these
mental health problems. Conclusion: the significant burden of psychological disturbances and fear
of covid-19 in the population studied is alarming and may lead to the expression of other mental
disorders. Further study of personal and cultural protective factors is necessary to minimize the
incidence of anxiety and depression in the university population. | |
