| dc.description | Fire protection in the buildings should be be a compromise and the professionals involved in the elaboration of the protection plan must be extremely well trained, because they can have serious consequences for human life and all their assets. Therefore, the society must be aware that all the capital invested in the security is an investment.
This work has as objective the elaboration of prevention and protection plan against fire in a commercial building in the city of Palhoça. Thus, the work begins with a literature review and then analyzes the commercial building and concludes that the prevention and protection methods applied in the PPCI's projects comply with the technical standards of ABNT and the legal requirements of the state of Santa Catarina.

| dc.description | A proteção contra incêndio nas edificações dever ser tratada como uma obrigação e os profissionais envolvidos na elaboração do plano de proteção devem estar extremamente capacitados, pois pode haver consequências gravíssimas a vida humana e todo o seu patrimônio. Portando, a sociedade deve se conscientizar que todo capital aplicado em segurança deve ser considerado como investimento.
Este trabalho tem como objetivo geral a elaboração de um plano de prevenção e proteção contra incêndio de um edifício comercial no município de Palhoça. Assim, o trabalho inicia com uma revisão bibliográfica do tema e depois apresenta-se a prédio comercial em estudo e conclui-se que os métodos de prevenção e proteção adotado no projeto de PPCI atendem as normas técnicas regulamentadoras da ABNT e as exigências legais do Estado de Santa Catarina.
