| dc.description | The present study sought to evaluate the analgesic effect caused by electro-stimulation of auricular branch of the vagus nerve (AVNSn) associated with physical exercise in mice with peripheral inflammation.This is a non-clinical experimental study, 64 Swiss male mices (35-40 g) were subjected to the Complete Freund Adjvant intraplantar injection procedure (CFA) and then treatment with AVNSn in the left ear for different times and/or swimming for 30 minutes. The Animals were allocated to the following groups: Control, Swimming, AVNSn 10 minutes, AVNSn 20 minutes, AVNSn 30 minutes, swimming + AVNSn 10 minutes, swimming + AVNSn 20 minutes and swimming + AVNSn 30 minutes for 4 consecutive days. After the treatment the animals were submitted for evaluation of mechanical hyperalgesia by the von Frey test (0.6 g), evaluation of edema by Insight micrometer and leg surface temperature by Thermal imager (Testo 880®). It was observed that the swimming group + AVNSn 20 minutes presented a signitifcative reduction (p < 0.01) of the pain on the first day and on the fourth day, the swimming group + AVNSn 30 minutes (p < 0.001). These data demonstrate that AVNSn prolongs exercise-induced analgesia in a model of persistent inflammatory pain. | |
