| dc.description | This work aims at analyzing the historical process of appropriation of inheritances
from Africa and their use, whether it is conscious or conscious, in the context of the formation
of a particular musical style known as samba so as to establish a relationship between this
musical genre and its manifestation during Old Republic time period. In this specific case, this
work will analyze the historical scope of the constitution and appropriation of African
heritages directed to draw attention to the diversity and relevance of this topic in the process
of building a national identity towards the end of the Old Republic. Furthermore, this research
will investigate the appropriation of samba by the new regime called Estado Novo (New
State) as a tool for consolidating a concept of national unity. The focus of analysis will not
encompass theoretical and methodological aspects of the field of music. Instead it will trace
historic pathways of this heritage playing a role in the formation of samba. | |
| dc.description | O presente trabalho se propõe a analisar o processo histórico de apropriação das
heranças africanas e seu uso, ora inconsciente, ora consciente, no contexto de formação do
estilo musical designado como samba a fim de estabelecer uma relação entre ele e sua
manifestação dentro do período histórico cronológico da República Velha. Nesse caso
específico, este trabalho analisará o âmbito histórico da constituição e apropriação das
heranças africanas visando destacar a riqueza e importância dessa temática no processo de
construção de uma identidade nacional nos anos finais da República Velha. Além disso, esta
pesquisa analisará a apropriação do samba pelo regime do Estado Novo como uma ferramenta
para consolidar uma concepção de unidade nacional. O foco desta análise não contemplará
aspectos teóricos e metodológicos do campo musical, mas traçará o percurso histórico que
essa herança leva para a constituição do samba. | |
