| dc.description | This is a history of the rebellion of 1842 in Minas Gerais, Brazil, and yours
conections that rebellion with the newspapers and with the history of de press. The press was
used here extensively as a source, as studied as an object, and even as a historical protagonist.
In fact a short history of the Minas Gerais press is included fron its birth until somo years
after the revolt. The motivations of the rebellion of 1842, one of the most controversial
themes of Minas Gerais historiography, were analyzed in detail. The role of the press in the
course of the revolt was highlighted and the press post 1842 was studied. From this research it
is possible to measure the importance of the rebellion do 1842 for the political history of the
Second Reign. | |
| dc.description | Essa é uma história da Revolta de 1842 em Minas Gerais, e suas conexões com a
imprensa e sua história. A imprensa foi aqui exaustivamente utilizada como fonte, assim como
estudada enquanto objeto, e mesmo como protagonista histórica. Inclui-se portanto uma
pequena história da imprensa mineira desde seu nascimento até alguns anos depois da revolta.
As motivações da Revolta de 1842, um dos temas mais polêmicos da historiografia mineira,
foram analisadas em seus detalhes. O papel da imprensa no desenrolar da revolta recebeu
destaque e estudou-se a imprensa pós 1842. A partir dessa pesquisa é possível aquilatar a
importância da Revolta de 1842 para a história política do Segundo Reinado. | |
