| dc.description | Dental implants have been widely used over time as support for overdentures
and systematized studies have been carried out to demonstrate the possibility of
using mini-implants as rehabilitation alternatives. This modality of treatment is
quite recent and a growing interest in this therapy can be seen in the literature,
because it is better suited to the different morphological conditions found in total
edentulous individuals. The objective of this work is to present a literature review
on overdentures supported by mini-implants and to evaluate the quality of these
as a form of treatment for total dental absences. For the identification of the
articles, three databases were searched: PubMed, Capes periodics and Google
Scholar, with the following descriptors: Mini-implants, dental implants, standard
implant,
conventional
implant,
mini-implant
retained
overdentures,
osseointegration and in Portuguese - dental implants, mini-dental implants as
support overdentures, osseointegration. The temporary cut-out covered the
period from 1988 to 2018. After the evaluation of the articles it was possible to
conclude that the mini-dental implants get loaded immediately or not, without
need of a surgical procedure, promotes good retention and stability, quality and
chewing efficiency, bone-implant osseointegration, longevity in function,
aesthetics, phonetics. Therefore, mini-dental implants are viable alternatives to
support overdentures. | |
| dc.description | Os implantes dentários foram muito utilizados ao longo do tempo como suporte
de overdentures e vem sendo realizados estudos sistematizados que
demonstram a possibilidade do uso de mini-implantes como alternativas
reabilitadoras. Essa modalidade de tratamento é bastante recente e um interesse
crescente nesta terapia pode ser visto na literatura, por se adequar melhor às
diferentes condições morfológicas encontradas nos indivíduos desdentados
totais. O presente trabalho tem como objetivo apresentar uma revisão de
literatura sobre overdentures suportadas por mini-implantes e avaliar a qualidade
e eficiência destes como forma de tratamento para ausências dentárias totais.
Para identificação dos artigos, realizou-se buscas em três bases de dados:
PubMed, Periódicos da Capes e o Google Acadêmico, com os seguintes
descritores: em inglês – Mini-implants, dental implants, conventional implant,
mini-implant retained overdentures, osteointegration, e em português –
Implantes dentários, mini-implantes dentários como suporte de overdentures,
osseointegração. O recorte temporal abrangeu o período compreendido entre os
anos 1988 a 2018. Após a avaliação dos artigos foi possível concluir que os mini-
implantes dentários permitem ser carregados de forma imediata ou não, através
de procedimentos menos invasivos, promove boa retenção e estabilidade,
viabilizam qualidade e eficiência mastigatória, osteointegração osso-implante,
longevidade em função, estética, fonética. Portanto a literatura tem demonstrado
que a utilização dos mini-implantes dentários são alternativas viáveis na
reabilitação para overdentures. | |
