dc.descriptionThe bordering relations between Brazil and Colombia throughout the 20thcentury were considered divergent due to the oscillation and instability of the security in the frontier, which happens since the tempestuous process of border delimitation of Brazil-Colombia by the Treaty of Bogotá in 1907. On one hand, Colombia narrowed its relations with the United States of America (USA) by military agreements on the drug combat, leaving Brazil afraid of this influence, while on the other hand, Brazil sought to expand its territory and Colombia feared a possible Brazilian hegemony. Therefore, as well as the geographic and geopolitical point of view and the international relations, the bond between both countries became remote, resulting in a tardy and irregular cross-border cooperation. Based on this assumption, it sought to analyze the trimming in the border between the twin cities Tabatinga (Brazil) and Leticia (Colombia) to comprehend the territory dynamic in matter of the (un) safety caused by drug trafficking. The methodology is based on bibliographical review related to the proposed theme, secondary data in Brazilian and Colombian statistical sources: newspapers, official ways of access to both governments information analyzed and reinterpretation of the historical background of Tabatinga e Leticia, which allowed pointing the challenges on the process of regional integration around the security agenda which has been conducting both countries in a narrowing of their bilateral relation in the last years. Among them, we emphasize two of the main agreements of cooperation that were established between the governments of Brazil and Colombia and reflect directly on the safety of the twin cities Tabatinga and Leticia borderline.
dc.descriptionAs relações fronteiriças entre o Brasil e a Colômbia, ao longo do século XX, foram consideradas dissidentes devido à oscilação e instabilidade da segurança na fronteira que ocorre desde o processo turbulento de delimitação da fronteira Brasil- Colômbia por meio do Tratado de Bogotá em 1907. De um lado, a Colômbia estreitava suas relações com os Estados Unidos da América (EUA) por meio de acordos militares no combate às drogas deixando o Brasil receoso com essa influência enquanto por outro lado, o Brasil buscava expandir seu território e a Colômbia temia uma possível hegemonia brasileira. Sendo assim, tanto pelo ponto de vista geográfico quanto geopolítico e das relações internacionais, os laços entre ambos se tornaram distantes resultando em uma cooperação transfronteiriça tardia e destoante. Partindo desse pressuposto, buscou-se analisar o recorte na fronteira entre as cidades gêmeas de Tabatinga (Brasil) e Leticia (Colômbia) para compreender a dinâmica territorial na questão da (in) segurança decorrente do narcotráfico. A metodologia fundamenta-se em revisões bibliográficas relacionadas ao tema proposto, dados secundários em fontes estatísticas brasileiras e colombianas: jornais, meios oficiais de acesso à informação de ambos os governos analisados e releituras do contexto histórico dos municípios de Tabatinga e Letícia que permitiram apontar os desafios no processo de integração regional em torno da agenda de segurança na qual tem conduzido ambos os países a um estreitamento de suas relações bilaterais nos últimos anos. Dentre eles, destacamos dois dos principais acordos de cooperação que foram estabelecidos entre os governos do Brasil e da Colômbia e, que refletem diretamente na segurança da fronteira das cidades gêmeas de Tabatinga e Leticia.
