| dc.description | Após a Segunda Guerra Mundial, os agrotóxicos começaram a ser comercializados e, desde sua implantação, seu uso expandiu, ganhando o mercado brasileiro e contribuindo para a expansão agrícola do país. A Lei nº 7.802 de 1989 define os agrotóxicos como agentes físicos, químicos ou biológicos que são destinados à produção agrícola a fim de preservá-la da ação danosa de seres vivos considerados nocivos. Dois Projetos de Lei estão sendo discutidos no Congresso Nacional a fim de alterar a legislação atual que define e regula o uso, a comercialização e a importação dos agrotóxicos. O tema recebe atenção da sociedade por conta dos impactos na saúde humana e no meio ambiente, além de se mostrar controverso quando se associa aos aspectos político-econômicos, tornando-se pauta recorrente na mídia. O objetivo desta pesquisa é analisar, quali-quantitativamente, os textos do jornal digital Nexo que tratam sobre agrotóxicos. Nossos objetivos específicos são: identificar quais narrativas são privilegiadas pelo jornal para retratar o tema; analisar os tratamentos feitos pelos autores dos textos; verificar qual a visão geral (positiva ou negativa) que o jornal aplica à cobertura do tema; investigar quais as principais fontes e vozes utilizadas na construção dos textos; identificar as localidades dos objetos e pesquisadores/instituições de pesquisa abordadas. O período de tempo da coleta foi de novembro de 2015 a outubro de 2019, totalizando quatro anos, tendo como ponto de partida a criação do jornal. Nosso corpus é de 36 textos, que foram submetidos à análise de conteúdo, para a qual utilizamos o protocolo elaborado pela Rede Iberoamericana de Capacitação e Monitoramento em Jornalismo Científico. O jornal aborda o tema enfatizando a narrativa político-econômica e pouco retrata o viés científico do assunto, embora as vozes mais ouvidas tenham sido de cientistas e pesquisadores. A visão geral empregada na cobertura pelo jornal foi negativa com relação aos agrotóxicos, visto que foram retratados mais riscos e danos do que benefícios e promessas desses produtos. As fontes mais utilizadas foram outros jornais e agências de notícias. Além disso, foi identificada uma quantidade considerável de textos com controvérsias que excedem o âmbito científico do tema. O jornal privilegia a cobertura nacional do tema, mas compara frequentemente a política brasileira de liberação de agrotóxicos com outros países desenvolvidos. | |

| dc.description | After the Second World War, pesticides began to be commercialized and, since their implementation, their use has expanded, gaining the Brazilian market and contributing to the country's agricultural expansion. The Law nº. 7.802 of 1989 defines pesticides as physical, chemical or biological agents that are used in agricultural production in order to preserve it from the harmful action of living beings considered noxious. Two proposal of bills are being discussed in the National Congress aiming to change the current legislation that defines and regulates the use, commercialization and importation of pesticides. The topic receives attention from society due to the impacts on human health and the environment, in addition of being controversial when it is associated with political and economic aspects, becoming a recurring issue in the media. The main objective of this research is to analyze, in a qualiquantitative perspective, the texts of the digital newspaper Nexo that deal with agrotoxics. Our specific objectives are: to identify which narratives are privileged by the newspaper to frame the theme; to analyze the treatments made by the authors of the texts; to verify which tone (positive or negative) the newspaper applies to the coverage of the topic; to investigate the main sources and voices used in the construction of texts; to identify the locations of the objects and researchers/research institutions covered. The collection period was from November 2015 to October 2019, totaling four years, starting with the creation of the newspaper. Our corpus includes 36 texts, submitted to content analysis, based on the protocol developed by the Iberoamerican Network for Training and Monitoring in Scientific Journalism. The newspaper addresses the theme emphasizing the political-economic narrative with reduced room to science in the frame, although the most heard voices were from scientists and researchers. The general tone used in the coverage by the newspaper was negative in relation to pesticides, since more risks and damages were framed than the benefits and promises of these products. The most used sources were newspapers and press agencies. A considerable amount of texts has been identified with controversies that exceed the scientific scope of the topic. The newspaper favors national coverage of the topic, however it frequently compares the Brazilian policy on the release of pesticides with other developed countries. | |
