dc.descriptionThe phenomenon of social participation is constituted in dialectic relation with active aging, which represents a process throughout the life cycle, in which opportunities for decision making, health, physical and mental well-being are enhanced. The purpose of the research was to characterize the social participation of the elderly linked to the sports complex of the “Camacho Libertad” Popular Council of the municipality of Santa Clara. A qualitative paradigm with a phenomenological design was used. For the collection of information, interviews, observation and review of official documents were used in a non-probabilistic sample of 25 elderly people to this institution. The results described an adequate perception of active aging and an optimal social participation within the center. It was revealed that the elderly in this institution participate in decision making, thus constituting themselves as active subjects. However, an insufficiency in the other sectors of the community was evidenced. This insufficiency means that the intersectoriality among the social actors causes a subjective discomfort in the population studied for services that encourage their participation in other areas of life.en-US
dc.descriptionEl fenómeno de la participación social se constituye en relación dialéctica con el envejecimiento activo, el cual representa un proceso a lo largo del ciclo vital, en el que se potencian las oportunidades de toma de decisiones, salud, bienestar físico y mental. La investigación tuvo como propósito caracterizar la participación social de las personas mayores vinculadas al combinado deportivo del Consejo Popular Camacho Libertad del municipio de Santa Clara. Se utilizó un paradigma cualitativo con un diseño fenomenológico. Para la recogida de información se empleó la entrevista, la observación y la revisión de documentos oficiales, en una muestra no probabilística de 25 personas mayores vinculados a esta institución. Los resultados describieron una adecuada percepción de envejecimiento activo y una óptima participación social dentro del centro. Se develó que las personas mayores en esta institución participan en la toma de decisiones, por lo que se constituyen como sujetos activos. Sin embargo, se evidenció una insuficiencia en los demás sectores de la comunidad. Esta insuficiencia hace que la intersectorialidad entre los actores sociales provoque un malestar subjetivo en la población estudiada de servicios que fomenten su participación en otras áreas de la vida.es-ES
