ABSTRACT This article seeks to determine, in chronological order, what the indicators and international transformations have been that have empowered the presence and participation of women in the political sphere. To this end, a systematic bibliographical review of similar articles, documents from international organizations and journalistic sources is undertaken, covering knowledge about gender participation in politics and media coverage, encompassing the international field and contrasting it with the regional aspect and local. In addition, the role of the media within this participatory process of women in politics is examined.
