In this study we wanted to characterize the executive functions related to the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (planning, problem solving and mental change) in a sample of patients with migraine without aura, with aura and controls. We conducted an observational cross-sectional descriptive whose participants were adults between the age range of 20- 55 years. Neuropsychological tests applied were: Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MOCA), Phonological Verbal Fluency, digit span subtest and digit-symbol of the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Adults (WAIS-III), Trail Making Test Form A and B and Test the Wisconsin Card Sorting. Statistical analysis included calculation of means, standard deviations and medians. The difference between groups was determined using the Kruskal-Wallis test and U of Mann-Whitney test due to the distribution of the data. The bivariate analysis was performed according to sociodemographic and clinical criteria of the sample. According to the results it was found that no statistically significant differences between the group of patients and control subjects in both tests examining sustained attention, visual search and immediate auditory memory as assessing executive functioning.
