Building a community justice system in Colombia: A systemic intervention

Abstract

This research delves into the role of systems thinking in advancing the theory and practice of Equitable Justice within the Colombian context. To achieve this objective, the study investigates the perspectives of equitable justice practitioners and other stakeholders who have historically been marginalized from policy-making spaces influencing this realm of justice. Through a transdisciplinary and collaborative approach involving governmental agencies, academia, private enterprises, and grassroots community organizations, this research gives rise to the National Equitable Justice System. This innovative system seeks to address the challenges of a fragile and under-supported state system by synergizing methods from systems thinking and equitable justice principles. Reflecting on the process of designing and implementing this system, the research aims to comprehend how systems thinking can support the work of equity conciliators and justices of the peace. Similarly, it explores how insights gained from equitable justice leaders can pave new avenues for the advancement of systems thinking.
