dc.description.abstractEl vínculo con la muerte en los manuscritos medievales de los tres vivos y los tres muertos en la cultura franco-flamenca es un proyecto que analiza el tratamiento literario y visual del tema de los tres vivos y los tres muertos, con el fin de establecer la incidencia del arte mortuorio en las prácticas de lectura y de devoción privada de un determinado ambiente cortesano. El estudio del motivo iconográfico en los manuscritos iluminados permite cuestionar la identidad de la muerte forjada en la Edad Media, examinar la noción de la mortalidad en el advenimiento del propio fin y explorar la recurrencia de una sensibilidad macabra empleada para convivir con la espera trágica de la muerte. Tomando como casos de estudio, tres variantes excepcionales de la iconografía que incluyen retratos de mecenas, en la investigación se estudia de qué manera la creencia en el tópico del memento mori influyó en la transición que tiene el tema dentro de la tradición manuscrita tardomedieval. Mediante este recorrido histórico y material del tema de los tres vivos y los tres muertos, se busca tratar la pregunta por la inevitabilidad de la muerte y sobre todo cuestionar el enigmático fin que tiene el ser humano y como este se encuentra preparado para afrontarlo.
