dc.descriptionEl objetivo primordial de este trabajo es describir dos nuevas subespecies de mariposas del género Catastica (Lepidoptera: Pieridae): C. cteneme pitalito n. spp., y C. cinerea farallonensis n. ssp. La primera de ellas habita la vertiente occidental de la Cordillera Oriental, en tanto la segunda, se encuentra presente en la Cordillera Occidental de Colombia. Esta contribución enriquece sin duda la cantidad de especies de Catasticta conocidas del país, que han sido obtenidas mediante captura manual con redes entomológicas. De lo anterior se concluye que el género es uno de los más diversificados en la zona Andina, pues constantemente se descubren nuevas especies y razas como las descritas en este estudio.
dc.descriptionThe primary objective of this work is to describe two new subspecies of butterflies of the Catastica (Lepidoptera: Pieridae) genus: C. cteneme pitalito n. spp., and C. farallonensis cinerea n. ssp,, the first one inhabiting the Western slope of the Eastern Cordillera, while the second is present in the Western Cordillera of Colombia. This contribution certainly enriches the number of Catasticta species known in the country, which have been obtained by manual capture with entomological nets. From the above it is concluded that this gender is one of the most diversified in the Andean region, as constantly new species and subspecies, as the ones described in this study, are discovered.
