In fact he suggests that where it occurs it may represent only European motif that has been imported. The following tale, which is based on motif D672, is told by the Chocó Indians on the Sambú River of Panama. Since it appears to be a tale of native origin, it is here presented as an illustration of South American treatment of this motif. | |
