dc.descriptioneng:Background: Chronic venous disease is a widely prevalent entity with various clinical manifestations. Saphenectomy is one of the methods most utilizated for managing the lower limbs. The relationship between this and the alteration of quality of life in terms of health is undeniable, which is why it is important to evaluate outcomes in this population. Methods and objectives: An observational, descriptive, prospective study was carried out in patients with venous disease undergoing saphenovaricectomy in a period of six months, determining the impact of this on the quality of life of patients through the application of a survey of evolution of the symptoms applied in the preoperative period and during three subsequent assessments. Results: 123 patients were evaluated, with a mean age of 57 years. 81.3% were women. 73.2% had a family history of venous disease. The most frequent symptom was pain in 80%. At seven postoperative days, there was a 78% decrease in heaviness and palpitations, 76% in edema, 75% pruritus, and 60.5% pain. One month after surgery, they left there was a reduction in symptoms of 84% for 7 heaviness, 80% pruritus, 72% palpitation, 60% edema and 45% pain. There is an improvement of all symptoms throughout the follow-up time (p= 0.005). Adherence to postoperative elastocompression reached 89%. Conclusions: The saphenectomy is related to a significant improvement in the quality of life of patients evaluating the symptoms and remains over time. There was excellent adherence to the postsurgical elastocompression.
