A visão das mães sobre a qualidade do atendimento em instituições públicas de Educação Infantil/

Abstract

This research examines the perceptions of mothers about the quality of their children' early childhood education. The study presents interviews with mothers whose children are studying in different institutions belonging to the Early Childhood Education in Guarulhos, one of them located in a peripheral region and another in the city centre. Based on several studies that find that the formation of opinion is related to cultural and socioeconomic conditions of families, this research analyzes the responses obtained in interviews seeking to understand whether socioeconomic, educational and cultural factors of these mothers contribute to the definition of quality in Early Childhood Education. The instrument used to collect information was the semi-structured interview that allows respondents to state their opinions and arguments. The interviews were conducted with three mothers, two of them with children who study at an institution located in the peripheral region and the other with a mother that has a child in an institution located in central city. The interviews were taped and transcribed. The mother’s selection was made by the teacher of their children. The interview was divided into four guiding principles: Socioeconomic and cultural habits of families, school choice and the conception of early childhood education, conception of quality and relationship with the school. The results show that socioeconomic, educational and cultural factors influence the opinion of the respondents so that the higher the socioeconomic, educational and cultural levels the most elaborated the concept of quality in early childhood education.

Esta pesquisa analisa a percepção de mães sobre a qualidade da Educação Infantil freqüentada por seus filhos. Para tanto, realiza entrevistas com mães cujos filhos estudam em diferentes instituições de Educação Infantil pertencentes à rede municipal de educação de Guarulhos, uma localizada em região periférica e outra em região central do município. Baseada em diversos estudos que constatam que a formação da opinião está relacionada às condições culturais e socioeconômicas das famílias, esta pesquisa analisa as respostas obtidas nas entrevistas buscando compreender se fatores socioeconômicos, educacionais e culturais que caracterizam as mães contribuem para a definição do conceito qualidade em Educação Infantil que expressam. O instrumento utilizado para a coleta de informações foi a entrevista semiestruturada, na medida em que permite às entrevistadas exporem suas opiniões e argumentos. As entrevistas foram realizadas com três mães, duas delas com filhos que estudam em instituição localizada na região periférica e a outra com filho estudante em instituição localizada na região central do município. As entrevistas foram gravadas e transcritas. A seleção das mães foi feita por indicação das professoras de seus filhos, sendo que todas as crianças têm por volta de quatro anos de idade e estudam no estágio I. O roteiro da entrevista foi dividido em quatro eixos norteadores sendo eles: Nível socioeconômico e hábitos culturais das famílias; Escolha da escola e concepção de Educação Infantil; Concepção de qualidade e Relação com a escola. Os resultados da pesquisa mostram que os fatores socioeconômicos, educacionais e culturais influenciam na opinião das entrevistadas de modo que quanto maior o nível socioeconômico, educacional e cultural mais elaborada é a percepção acerca do conceito qualidade em Educação Infantil.
