A construção da imagem do rei D. João I na crônica de Fernão Lopes

Abstract

The present study aims to analyze the construction made by the Portuguese chronicler Fernão Lopes of the social image of King João I, the first monarch of the Avis dynasty. First we will analyze the social political context of the kingdom of Portugal in the first half of the fifteenth century, as well as the context in which the Portuguese chronicler lived when he was producing his chronicle and his trajectory. Later on we will analyze the social context that led the kingdom of Portugal to the situation that Fernão Lopes portrays us within the chronicle of King D. João I. Finalizing the study we will present how within the chronicle of King D. João I the chronicler Fernão Lopes realized the construction of a certain image on the first monarch of Avis.

O presente estudo tem por objetivo analisar a construção feita pelo cronista português Fernão Lopes da imagem social do rei D. João I, o primeiro monarca da dinastia de Avis. Primeiramente iremos analisar o contexto político social do reino de Portugal na primeira metade do século XV, assim como o contexto no qual o cronista português viveu quando estava produzindo a sua crônica e a sua trajetória. Posteriormente a isso iremos analisar o contexto social que levou o reino de Portugal para a situação que Fernão Lopes nos retrata dentro da crônica do rei D. João I. Finalizando o estudo vamos apresentar como dentro da crônica do rei D. João I o cronista Fernão Lopes realizou a construção de determinada imagem sobre primeiro monarca de Avis.
