In this work the potential of saving of drinking water obtained through the implantation of a rainwater harvesting system was studied in a residence in the municipality of Nova Santa Rita, RS. Data were collected to estimate the final uses of water in sanitary appliances, with the result that it was possible to verify the average daily consumption of drinking water and the percentage that could be replaced by rainwater. It was also estimated the ideal volumes for the reservoirs that make up the rainwater harvesting system. With the percentage of drinking water savings, the research presents the utilization of rainwater as an alternative source for non-potable purposes in order to save potable water.
