dc.descriptionThe present article allows to determine the investigative competences that the university professors have assigned to the department of Architecture, design and urbanism of the Francisco de Paula Santander University. Within this research, a quantitative and descriptive field approach was used, through tools such as the survey and descriptive statistics. The implementation of this approach favored the analysis of data on research competences in teachers, based on their own self-assessment within a sample composed of 25 teachers.In the results, the competences that the university professors possess in research matters are identified and characterized. Likewise, solutions are proposed to the detected problems, by means of concepts and strategies based on the investigative competences, that contribute in the development and professional improvement of the teachers.
