dc.descriptionObjectives: 1 . To learn about the opinion teachers have on what the OSCE evaluates 2. To define the competencies of clinical and communicational practices that allow for assessment. 3. To identify the strengths and weaknesses of this instrument. Material and Methods: A qualitative, descriptive, transversal study. It was carried out from December 2011 until March 2013. Semi-structured interviews were conducted to those teachers who evaluate the objective and structured clinical examination (OSCE), which consists of 10 stations. Results: 32 teachers were surveyed. Most of them had participated in more than one OSCE assessment. The answers to the survey mostly agreed on the fact that the OSCE assesses competencies. The performance of the actors and medical evaluators was valued, even when the performance of the actors was valued higher than those of the doctors. Their opinion about the performance of the students is that there is a deficit in communication. They were able to review strengths and weaknesses of the instrument. Conclusions: The majority of the surveyed teachers acknowledged that they evaluate the OSCE. The ability to perform the physical examination, formulate diagnostic hypotheses, choose the complementary method and indicate the appropriate treatment were the practical skills chosen by the majority. As regards communication skills, listening as well as emotional support were the most valued ones. The weaknesses and strengths of the instrument found by the teachers were similar to those outlined in literature.en-US
dc.descriptionObjetivo: 1 - Conocer la opinión de los docentes sobre qué evalúa el ECOE 2- Definir las competencias de la práctica clínica y comunicacionales que permite evaluar. 3. Identificar las fortalezas y debilidades de este instrumento. Material y Métodos: Estudio cualitativo, descriptivo, transversal. Se llevó a cabo desde diciembre 2011 hasta marzo de 2013. Se realizaron encuestas semi-estructuradas a los docentes que evalúan en el examen clínico objetivo y estructurado (ECOE), el cuál consta de 10 estaciones. Resultados: Se encuestaron a 32 docentes. La mayoría habían participado en más de una evaluación ECOE. Las respuestas al interrogatorio coincidieron mayoritariamente en que el ECOE evalúa competencias. Valoraron la actuación de los actores y de los evaluadores médicos, aún cuando el desempeño fue valuado más alto por los actores que por los médicos. Su opinión sobre el desempeño de los alumnos es que es deficitario en comunicación. Fueron capaces de reseñar debilidades y fortalezas del instrumento. Conclusiones: En su mayoría, los profesores entrevistados reconocieron qué evalúa el ECOE. La capacidad de realizar el examen físico completo, formular hipótesis diagnósticas, elegir el método complementario e indicar el tratamiento oportuno fueron las competencias prácticas elegidas por la mayoría. Con respecto a lo comunicacional la capacidad de escucha y contención fue lo más valorado. Las debilidades y fortalezas del instrumento halladas por los profesores fueron similares a las delineadas en la literatura.es-ES
