dc.descriptionEn este trabajo, analizaremos los procedimientos metodológicos implementados por Aristóteles en el fragmento 16 de Sobre la filosofía, donde postula cierta entidad, caracterizada como divina y eterna. Para dar cuenta de esa entidad, se vale de un argumento factible de dividirse en tres momentos: en el primero, presenta el razonamiento por el cual se debe aceptar su eternidad; en la segunda instancia, establece la identificación entre lo divino y lo óptimo y se focaliza en las posibles causas por las cuales algo cambia; finalmente, sobre la base de este último resultado, en el tercer momento se focaliza en demostrar que lo divino es inmutable Para hacer esto, se vale de lo que suele llamar “silogismos a partir de hipótesis”. Al centrarnos en este fragmento, nuestro objetivo es examinar el uso dialéctico de este tipo de silogismos que en la primera parte del fragmento son equiparables a lo que en la terminología de la lógica actual conocemos como modus ponens y hacia el final del fragmento adquieren la forma de una reducción a lo imposible.
dc.descriptionIn the present work, we will analyze the methodological procedures implemented by Aristotle in fragment 16 of On Philosophy, where he postulates a certain entity, characterized as divine and eternal. To account for this entity, he uses an argument that can be divided into three moments: in the first moment, he presents the reasoning for which its eternity should be accepted; in the second instance, he establishes the identification between the divine and the optimal and focuses on the possible causes for which something changes; finally, based on this last result, in the third moment he focuses on demonstrating that the divine is immutable. To do this, he uses what he usually calls “hypothetical syllogisms.” Our objective is to examine the dialectical use of this type of syllogisms, which in the first part of the fragment are comparable to what in the terminology of current logic we know as modus ponens and towards the end of the fragment take the form of a reduction to the impossible.
