dc.descriptionThe trihalomethanes (water by-products upon chlorination) from two treatment plants of the eastern region of Córdoba that used chlorination were studied. The amount and speciation of trihalomethanes (THMs) in tap water was assayed in order to evaluate its content and quality. Chloroform was the prevailing compound with very small amounts of the more highly brominated analogues present. For Bell Ville town the chloroform average was 102.6 ug/l and 100.3ugll for San Marcos town. In agreement with these results an alternative technology is suggested to diminish the chlorine amount in water used for human consumption.
