dc.descriptionResumen: Domingo Faustino Sarmiento constituye una figura de relevante interés para la historia de las ideas y la política. Ocupó diversas funciones de gobierno e integró espacios intelectuales de trascendencia regional. Por ello varios investigadores lo han conceptuado como un “letrado”. Sin embargo, Sarmiento no siempre se identificó con ese lenguaje. El presente trabajo busca ahondar en este concepto aplicado a su persona, a través de las referencias que el propio Sarmiento y sus allegados hacían al respecto, estudiando sus dificultades para acceder a un título universitario, su intención de legitimarse en la elite letrada y las dificultades sufridas por no haber tenido estudios universitarios
dc.descriptionAbstract: Domingo Faustino Sarmiento is a figure of relevant interest for the history of ideas and politics. He held various government functions and integrated intellectual spaces of regional importance. For this reason, several researchers have conceptualized him as a "lawyer". However, Sarmiento did not always identify himself with that language. The present work seeks to delve into this concept applied to his person, through the references that Sarmiento himself and his relatives made in this regard, studying his difficulties in accessing a university degree, his intention to legitimize himself in the legal elite and the difficulties suffered for not having had university studies
