| dc.description | ABSTRACT: The purpose of this article is to compile some information about concepts of mandibular stability and centric relation. The centric relation is the term or concept that more controversy generates in the field of dentistry, Despite of the historic evolution it constitutes an important aspect in the correction of oclusal problems. The adult patient that request an integral treatment, generally show enormous discrepancy in his or her occlusal scheme. With the treatment the clinician tries to reinforce, recuperate or preserve the physiological occlusion but never creates a new one, so that during, at the end or even after the treatment, mandibular stability is given for a good function of the stomatognatic system. | |
| dc.description | RESUMEN: El propósito de este artículo es el de recopilar alguna información relacionada con los conceptos de estabilidad mandibular y relación céntrica. La relación céntrica es el término o concepto que más controversia ha generado en el campo odontológico; a pesar de su evolución histórica, ha constituido un aspecto importante en la corrección de los problemas oclusales.
El paciente adulto que requiere tratamiento odontológico integral, por lo general presenta grandes discrepancias en su esquema oclusal. Con el tratamiento, el clínico, busca reforzar, recuperar o preservar la oclusión fisiológica, pero nunca crear una nueva, de manera que durante el tratamiento, al finalizar éste y aún mucho más importante después de él, se proporcione estabilidad mandibular para que el sistema estomatognático funcione adecuadamente. | |
