This paper addresses the questions that explain why a nation like Norway, through good institutional design and effective economic management, has avoided the scourge known as the 'oil curse'. This phenomenon, studied by a body of economic literature, analyzes the relationship between the abundance of natural resources in some countries and the economic stagnation added to the social crises that go with this abundance.
