| dc.description | En la cl?nica de peque?os animales de la Universidad del Tolima, diariamente son diagnosticados pacientes caninos con diversas enfermedades de tipo sist?mico y algunas de orden subcl?nico. Estas enfermedades, pueden incrementar la presi?n intraocular y con el trascurso del tiempo reflejarse en da?os del sistema visual, Por ello es importante la evaluaci?n tonom?trica de la presi?n intraocular (PIO), siendo una prueba de gran ayuda diagn?stica en las patolog?as oculares. En este trabajo se emple? el ton?metro de Schiotz por su facilidad de uso, ya que se coloca sobre la c?rnea. La medici?n ton?metrica se realiz? tres veces, se transform? en mil?metros de mercurio (mmHg) utilizando la tabla de conversion del ton?metro de aplanamiento y por ultimo se obtuvo la media. Los valores promedios de la presi?n intraocular en caninos se?alada como normal, reportada por la literatura como medidas de referencia para el presente trabajo son de 15 a 27 mm de Hg (Radostits, 2002). Este estudio se llevo a cabo con el fin de determinar el grado de alteraci?n de la presi?n intraocular, y establecer cuales de las enfermedades sist?micas encontradas ocasiona mayor agresi?n patol?gica para la visi?n del paciente. | dc.description | the small animal?s clinic of the University of Tolima, are diagnosed daily canine patient with diverse systemic diseases and some of subclinical order. These diseases can increase the intraocular pressure and with the pass of the time can be reflected in damages of the visual system; for that reason the tonometric evaluation of the intraocular pressure (PIO) is important being a helpful diagnostic test in ocular pathologies. In this work was used Schiotz tonometer because of its easy use, since it is placed on the cornea. The tonometric measurement was made three times, was transformed into mercury millimeters (mmHg) using the conversion table; and finally it was get the average was gotten. The averages values of the intraocular pressure in canine, indicated like normal, reported by Literature as reference measured for this present work are from 15 to 27 mm of Hg (Radostits, 2002). The alteration of the PIO in canine could be related to the position of the animal (the intraocular pressure increases when the head inclines backwards) and the form of subjection (a vigorous subjection increased the PIO). This research is done in order to establish the inward eye pressure variation grade and settle which finding systematic illnesses produce some higher threatening pathology to patient?s sight.
