Se concluye que a medida que se aumenta los niveles de inclusi?n de urea se mejora la calidad proteica del ensilaje y se disminuye la cantidad de FDN. dc.descriptionThe realization of silages as a method of conservation of food for the dry season is of vital importance, however it is important to evaluate the characteristics of the food to be ensiled and the way to improve the fermentation and the nutritional quality of the same. The Cuba 22 Pasture (Pennisetum Cuba OM22) has become, in the tropic dry zones as an important alternative, due to its adaptation, biomass production, number of cuts and nutritional quality. For this reason, the objective of the present investigation was to determine the nutritional value of Pennisetum Cuba OM22 silage, under different levels of inclusion of urea. This experiment was carried out at Hacienda La Gaviota, municipality of Mariquita, Tolima- Colombia at an altitude of 495 meters above sea level; temperature of 28 ?C and annual rainfall of 1400 mm. A completely randomized experimental design with a factorial arrangement of 2*4 was used; 2 opening periods (14 and 28 days), 4 inclusion levels of urea 0, 1, 2 and 3%, and 6 repetitions per treatment. The Pennisetum OM cuba 22 grass was cut to a particle size of 2 cm ? 0.5, then the different inclusions of urea were made and it was stored in 40 L containers to form the respective microsilos of each treatment. In each period of opening of the silages the pH values were measured, in addition to this the respective samples were taken to evaluate the amount of MS, PC, FDN and FDA. The results were analyzed making a comparison between periods by Tukey test (P ? 0.05) and between treatments using PROC REG statistical package SAS version 9.1. Within the results it is found that for the two opening periods as the urea inclusion level is increased, the protein has a linear effect (P ?0,0001); in the same way an inverse linear effect is presented for the contents of NDF as the urea levels are increased (P ?0,0001). It is concluded that as the levels of inclusion of urea are increased, it is improved the protein quality of the silage and the amount of FDN is decreased. Keywords: Silage, Urea, MS Dry material, PC crude protein, FDN neutral detergent fiber Y FDA acid detergent fiber
