dc.descriptionEste artículo busca comprender la situación de los refugiados colombianos en Venezuela. A este país han llegado cerca de 200.000 refugiados durante los últimos 15 años, de los cuales más del 95% son colombianos . De acuerdo con su Constitución la República Bolivariana de Venezuela de 1999 se "reconoce y garantiza el derecho de asilo y refugio", sin embargo solo el 3% (5.210) de las personas con necesidad de protección internacional son reconocidas como refugiados. Este artículo explora las causas de este fenómeno y plantea recomendaciones a los gobiernos involucrados para mejorar las condiciones de vida de los refugiados. La metodología implementada es cualitativa y se realizó a partir de fuentes documentales por medio de una revisión de las políticas públicas enfocadas en atender a esta población e investigaciones de caracterización de la misma. El estudio aborda el contexto colombiano, la historia de la movilidad de colombianos a Venezuela, las condiciones de refugio en este país, la situación jurídica, el proceso de refugio, la alternativa de la naturalización, la discriminación y el acceso de los refugiados a servicios básicos.
dc.descriptionThis research article aims to understand the situation of the Colombian refugees in Venezuela. Nearly 200,000 refugees have arrived in this country during the last 15 years, about 95% of which are Colombians3. In the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela (1999), according to its constitution (1999), "the right of asylum and refuge is recognized and guaranteed", however only 3% (5,210) of people in need of international protection are recognized as refugees. The methodology implemented here is qualitative and utilises documental sources through a revision of public policies that focus on this population and research projects that characterize it. The article addresses the Colombian context, the history of migration of Colombians to Venezuela, shelter conditions in the destination country, the legal situation, the refugee process, naturalization, discrimination and access to basic services.
