dc.descriptionIn this article we analyze the exercise of laws against women vagrancy from a social history and gender perspective. The control of costumes and traditions and the way in which women from different sectors defended their way of life are explained so we convey knowledge about their material circumstances of life and worldview. The discussion focuses on the social transgression exercised by women in the liberal period in Costa Rica (1870-1915). The search for the material under study was done in the National Archive of Costa Rica (ANCR) and the Newspaper Library in the National Library, these include the Collection of Laws and decrees, speeches published in the media and court records for vagrancy.
dc.descriptionEn este artículo se analiza el ejercicio de las leyes en contra la vagancia hacia las mujeres, desde la perspectiva de la historia social y del género. Se dará cuenta del control de las costumbres y la manera en la que mujeres provenientes de distintos sectores defendieron su modo de vida, de forma que nos transmiten conocimiento acerca de sus circunstancias materiales de vida y visión de mundo. La discusión se enfoca en la transgresión social ejercida por las mujeres en el periodo liberal en Costa Rica (1870-1915). La búsqueda del material objeto de estudio se hizo en el Archivo Nacional de Costa Rica (ANCR) y en la Hemeroteca de la Biblioteca Nacional, y éstas incluyen la Colección de Leyes y Decretos, los discursos publicados en los medios de comunicación y los expedientes judiciales por vagancia.
