dc.description.abstractEn una empresa porcina el objetivo principal es obtener los mayores rendimientos productivos al menor costo posible. Las metas que un porcicultor debe plantearse en su porcícola son: a) obtener el mayor número de cerdos por cerda por año; b) alcanzar el peso mercado en el menor tiempo posible; c) maximizar la producción de tejido magro y d) obtener una conversión alimenticia eficiente. Para obtener con éxito estas metas es necesario considerar cuatro factores que son la alimentación, la genética, el manejo y la sanidad. Todos estos factores tienen un efecto importantísimo; sin embargo, el manejo y la alimentación que se realiza en las dos primeras semanas posdestete son en gran parte los responsables, de la pérdida o baja ganancia de peso posdestete y del tiempo y peso para alcanzar la edad de mercado.
