| dc.description | Mostra uma imagem microscópica de Floscularia, um rotífero loricado (metazoário), que vive dentro de um teste, no qual as paredes são formadas por pequenas bolas marrons (talvez, bolas fecais). Come com um aglomerado de cílios (chamados de corona), formado por quatro pontas. Apresenta saliências ventrais, chamadas de antennae. Rotíferos são membros comuns das comunidades microbianas de muitos ecossistemas aquáticos. Embora eles sejam animais unicelulares, eles só podem ter 100 mícrons de comprimento, logo sobrepõem-se em tamanho aos ciliados. Eles podem ser confundidos com os ciliados porque usam cílios para capturar a própria comida. No entanto, eles podem ser distinguidos porque têm um exoesqueleto, geralmente duas partes salientes traseiras e uma região faríngea rígida, logo atrás da cabeça | |
