dc.description.abstractThe objective of this study was to develop ergonomic risk management by implementing of ISO 11228 standard and NIOSH methodology to prevent occupational diseases in EXIBAL company located in Riobamba city. It was perfomed based on the initial identification, where it was detected that workers in the production area lift loads of 40 kg in their workday, these jobs are: packaging, dosing and dispatch; for this reason ISO 1 1228-1 was applied and the risk factor for lifting loads was identified. NIOSH evaluation method was applied where the lifting index (LI) was determined; an LI of 5.63 was measured in the PACKAGING workstation, an LI of 4.43 in the DOSING workstation and an LI of 15.25 in the DISPATCH workstation. In conclusion, the IL value is greater than 3 in all cases, therefore it was determined that the level of RISK IS HIGH, caused by the weight of the load, the frequency of handling and the posture adopted by the worker at the time of performing the activity. Therefore, the matrix of objectives and goals was applied to solve the identified risk factor and the appropriate type of program and/or procedure was established as part of an ergonomic risk prevention plan for lifting loads for EXIBAL's company. It is recommended to implement a conveyor belt system that can lift the load to an adequate level or replace manual lifting with vacuum lifting systems to minimize occupational diseases.
