The objective of this project was to design and construct a 100cc single-seater prototype vehicle named mini T-Rex, using CAD/CAE software, to optimize commuting times for students traveling from the main entrance of ESPOCH to the Faculty of Natural Resources building. Initial measurements of the chassis components, specifically the engine, were taken, followed by the modeling of the chassis using CAD software. For the static analysis, loads throughout the chassis were considered, accounting for the weight of the occupant, engine, and other essential components relevant to the study. CAE software was employed to simulate various loads based on different occupant weights, and the behavior of the chassis was assessed in terms of deformations and safety factors. Due to the absence of a specific regulatory framework governing this prototype, adherence was ensured to the NTE INEN 1323:2009 standard. The results revealed that the static analysis of the chassis produced deformation values below 2 mm in all tested combinations, both under static conditions and following the provisional standard. Moreover, the average safety factor ranged between 2 and 3, which is considered acceptable for structural integrity. In terms of time reduction, data was collected for two modes of transportation: walking and utilizing the prototype vehicle. It was observed that the prototype vehicle decreased travel time by 82.3% compared to walking. As a recommendation, it is advisable to install a specially designed front wheel rim for three-wheeled vehicles to ensure proper steering and stability.
