apropiado y enfrentando angustia, fatiga, agotamiento ocupacional,
incertidumbre, dilemas éticos e inusitadamente estigma social.
dc.description | Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on public
mental health. Therefore, monitoring and surveillance of the mental health of the
population during crises such as a pandemic is an immediate priority.
The pandemic has marked our lives and has modified our behaviour, our
perceptions and the environment.
From the beginning, health personnel have been on the front line of care,
exposed to extreme circumstances to carry out their work, at greater risk of
infection, long working hours, in many cases without the appropriate equipment
and facing anguish, fatigue, occupational exhaustion. , uncertainty, ethical
dilemmas and unusually social stigma.
Objectives: To evaluate the influence of the Covid-19 pandemic on the Mental
Health of health personnel at the San Miguel Health Center and particularly in
relation to the prevalence of anxiety and depression.
Hypothesis: The general hypothesis is that health professionals who are on the
front lines of the Covid-19 Pandemic develop anxiety and depression disorders
to a lesser or greater degree.
Methods:To determine the risk of presenting anxiety and depression, the
Validated Kessler Scale - K10 was applied, a screening instrument for these
clinical manifestations in the workplace; with which it was established whether or
not there are significant differences related to the appearance of Anxiety and
Depression during and after the Covid-19 pandemic in the personnel of the San
Miguel Health Center from January to October of the year 2022.
The use of the statistical test of T-Student of Related or Paired Groups was
established for the statistical analysis since it met the requirements of the
investigation.
Results: It was determined that the Covid-19 pandemic does influence the risk
of developing Anxiety and Depression in the personnel who cared for patients in
the emergency and respiratory triage areas, of the 50 participants it was
associated with professional variables, being nursing graduates with 41.25 points
and doctors with 39.69 points with a higher prevalence of anxiety and depression
than the rest of the participants, the age range was 44-53 years, female gender
(83%), marital status: widowed and single with 40 points .
Conclusions: Health personnel found themselves highly exposed to developing
high levels of Anxiety and Depression, which is why immediate intervention is
required to mitigate the mental health problems developed during the Covid-19
Pandemic.
Applicability of the results: The consequences that are being generated in
health personnel due to the Covid-19 pandemic, both physically and very
significantly in mental health, will allow us to know the effects and quantify their
magnitude, with which will be able to carry out timely and strict intervention
strategies aimed at the restoration and protection of mental health in health
personnel. | |
