| dc.description | La hipoacusia no es un síntoma frecuente en el hipotiroidismo, pero se manifiesta
en casos raros, esto debido a la falta de hormonas tiroideas en el cuerpo. La
hipoacusia en el hipotiroidismo generalmente es leve y puede mejorar con el
tratamiento adecuado para el hipotiroidismo. Objetivo: Determinar la prevalencia
de hipoacusia en pacientes con hipotiroidismo atendidos en el servicio de
Otorrinolaringología del Hospital IESS Durán durante el periodo 2020 – 2022.
Materiales y Métodos: Estudio, descriptivo, analítico retrospectivo de diseño no
experimental. Resultados: De una muestra de 145 pacientes con hipotiroidismo con
asociación de hipoacusia, fueron 75 pacientes del género femenino (52%), además
de que el mayor grupo etario afectado es el de 43 a 60 años (61 pacientes),con
evidente asociación a otras enfermedades, hipertensión (83 pacientes) y diabetes
mellitus (40 pacientes); en cuanto a los tipos de hipoacusia la conductiva se
evidencian en 40 pacientes, la neurosensorial en 46 pacientes y por último el tipo
mixto en 59 pacientes.
Conclusiones Existe una predisposición del género femenino tiene predisposición
para la manifestación de hipotiroidismo con hipoacusia. Es evidente la relación con
los grupos etarios entre 43 y 60 años. Hay una relación con otras comorbilidades,
primordialmente con hipertensión arterial y diabetes mellitus tipo 2. En los tipos de
hipoacusia, el principal de estos es el tipo mixta, el cual se manifestó en 59
pacientes. La hipoacusia subsecuente a hipotiroidismo se manifiesta
mayoritariamente de 1 a 4 años luego del diagnóstico. | |

due to a lack of thyroid hormones in the body. Hearing loss in hypothyroidism is
usually mild and may improve with appropriate hypothyroidism treatment.Objective:
To determine the prevalence of hearing loss in patients with hypothyroidism treated
in the Otorhinolaryngology service of the IESS Durán Hospital during the period 2020
