dc.descriptionIntroducción: el asma en la actualidad es una de las patologías crónicas no transmisibles más común en niños, afectando a nivel mundial. Objetivo: Determinar la severidad del asma más frecuente en pacientes pediátricos que son atendidos en el Hospital General del Norte IESS Ceibos. Materiales y Métodos: es un estudio de carácter Descriptivo Observacional Prospectivo y Transversal donde e incluyó pacientes ≤14 años, con diagnóstico presuntivo o definitivo de asma bronquial el cual se revisó la severidad y el impacto familiar. Resultados: Durante el periodo establecido, se estudió a 137 pacientes de los cuales 52 pacientes (37.95%) presento asma intermitente, 43 pacientes (31.39%) presento asma persistente leve, 28 pacientes (20.44%) presento asma persistente moderado y 14 pacientes (10.22%) presento asma persistente severa. Conclusiones: la severidad de asma en la población pediátrica que acudió al Hospital General del Norte IESS Ceibos, la más frecuente fue el asma intermitente con el 37,95% de la muestra del estudio.

Objective: To determine the severity of the most frequent asthma in pediatric patients who are treated at the Hospital General del Norte IESS Ceibos. Materials and Methods: it is a Descriptive Observational Prospective and Crosssectional study where and included patients ≤14 years old, with a presumptive or definitive diagnosis of bronchial asthma, which reviewed the severity and family impact. Results: During the established period, 137 patients were studied, of whom 52 patients (37.95%) presented intermittent asthma, 43 patients (31.39%) presented mild persistent asthma, 28 patients (20.44%) presented moderate persistent asthma and 14 patients (10.22%) presented severe persistent asthma. Conclusions: the severity of asthma in the pediatric population who attended the Hospital General del Norte IESS Ceibos, the most frequent was intermittent asthma with 37.95% of the study sample.
