dc.descriptionFor economic science, the analysis of the production function is a widespread practice, since it is approached from the microeconomic point of view with the analysis of the theory of production and also from the macroeconomic perspective to explain to what extent the changes in the factors of production determine the product. The Cobb-Douglas production function has been one of the most applied to measure these parameters, which imply productivity and economic growth at the aggregate level. So, the question arose as to whether this function is really appropriate for interpreting the sources of growth, as well as estimating the productivity of the factors and thus knowing the productive performance of a country? To address this problem, a systematic bibliographic review was carried out that historically collects the most notable contributions on this function, applied for approximately one hundred years. The main characteristics and assumptions were analyzed, as well as the strong criticisms that are made, taking into account the debate on capital-labor and the primary distribution of income. The truth is that it continues to be applied now with more sophisticated econometric models such as the unbalanced data panel of the Generalized Moment Models.en-US
dc.descriptionPara la ciencia económica, el análisis de la función de producción es una práctica generalizada, ya que se la aborda desde el punto de vista microeconómico con el análisis de la teoría de la producción y también desde la perspectiva macroeconómica para explicar en qué medida los cambios en los factores de producción determinan el producto. La función de producción Cobb-Douglas ha sido una de las más aplicadas para medir estos parámetros, que implican a nivel agregado la productividad y crecimiento económico. Entonces, surgió la interrogante de si ¿es realmente esta función apropiada para interpretar las fuentes de crecimiento, así como estimar la productividad de los factores y así conocer el desempeño productivo de un país? Para abordar este problema, se realizó una revisión bibliográfica sistemática que recoge históricamente las más notables contribuciones sobre esta función, aplicada desde aproximadamente cien años. Se analizaron las principales características y supuestos, así como las fuertes críticas que se realizan, teniendo en cuenta el debate del capital-trabajo y la distribución primaria de la renta. Lo cierto es que, sigue aplicándose ahora con modelos econométricos más sofisticados, como panel de datos desbalanceados de los Modelos Generalizados de Momentos.es-ES
