dc.descriptionThe Inca Traíls’ traces are an integral part of the northern andean cultural landscape of the Republic of Ecuador. Its vestiges are spread from the border at the North (Colombia) to the southern border (Peru) in the province of Loja. Despite the scarce material's evidence, it has been possible to trace the route based on historical data and early documentary sources. In the case of the north, between the cities of Quito and Tulcán, the path preserves testimonies in the rural and mountains areas, which were visited by the author in the framework of the cultural properties’ inventory project made by the Ecuadorian' State in 2008-2009. The study presents a revision of the vestiges found in the field and contrasting them with the historical information available.en-US
dc.descriptionLas huellas del Camino del Inca forman parte del paisaje cultural de los Andes Septentrionales de la República del Ecuador. Se conocen sus vestigios desde la frontera norte en Colombia, hasta el límite con el Perú en la provincia sureña de Loja. Si bien los testimonios materiales son escasos, se ha podido trazar la ruta a partir de los datos históricos y fuentes documentales tempranas. En el caso de la Sierra norte, comprendida entre las ciudades de Quito y Tulcán, la ruta conserva testimonios en sectores rurales y montañosos, recorridos por el autor en el contexto del proyecto de inventario de bienes culturales realizado por el Estado ecuatoriano en el período 2008-2009. El presente artículo es el resultado de los vestigios observado en campo y contrastados con la información histórica existente.es-ES
