dc.descriptionEl propósito del presente artículo es la reflexión acerca de los cambios que se hanproducido en la relación médico paciente y en el ejercicio de la medicina, en la segundamitad del siglo XX y en lo que lleva transcurrido del presente siglo, por la irrupción deuna ciencia y tecnología avasalladoras, que si bien han mejorado los métodos auxiliaresde diagnóstico y tratamiento, han traído como consecuencia una medicina tecnificada,en la cual el paciente ha adquirido una sensación de extrañeza frente a la omnipotenciadel modelo científico. El personal sanitario debe considerar los aspectos personalesdel enfermo como ente frágil y vulnerable y volver los ojos al modelo de antaño basadoen la comprensión del sufrimiento y la atención humanizada.Palabras clave: Humanización, deshumanización, salud, enfermedad ABSTRACTThe purpose of this article is to reflect about the changes which have taken place inthe relationship between a doctor and a patient and in the practice of medicine in thesecond half of the Twentieth century and in the current century, due to the irruption ofan overwhelming science and technology which on one hand have improved the auxi-liary methods of diagnosis and treatment, but on the other hand have created a tech-nified medicine where the patient has acquired a sense of strangeness in front of theomnipotence of the scientific model. The health personnel must consider the personalaspects of the patient as a fragile and vulnerable being and look back to the old model,based on the understanding of the suffering and on a humanized attention.Keywords:  Humanization, dehumanization, health, diseasees-ES
