The healthcare sector is rapidly embracing digitization to improve processes and patient care. However, the Mental Health Area of the Welfare Directorate at the University of Cuenca still faces challenges with digital documents and paper records, which affect patient care and administrative tasks. This thesis work proposes a software development solution using an agile approach, incorporating User-Centered Design and a three-tier architecture. Two web applications are developed using Streamlit as the presentation layer, Python for the service layer, and PostgreSQL for the database. A usability evaluation is conducted using the System Usability Scale SUS for the self-report questionnaire application and user experience is evaluated using the User Experience Questionnaire (UEQ) for the patient management and medical records application. The chosen technologies, including Streamlit and the three-tier architecture, successfully facilitated the development of the applications. User evaluations demonstrated efficient questionnaire completion and high user satisfaction. The adapted methodology facilitated understanding of workflows, and the architecture allowed for modular and maintainable code. Future work includes expanding the user evaluation pool, data encryption, and adding features to enhance system functionality and usability.
