In order to determine the amount of distributed generation that can be accommodated in the medium voltage distribution feeders of EMPRESA ELÉCTRICA REGIONAL CENTRO SUR C.A. (CENTROSUR), a methodology is proposed to calculate the Photovoltaic Hosting Capacity (PVHC). This capacity is not a fixed calculation with a single result, but a range of values defined by; the grid input data, criteria and limits established in international standards and local regulations. Five analysis criteria are proposed to determine the PVHC of the feeder. The basis of analysis corresponds to a hybrid iterative and deterministic methodology based on time series analysis, which consists of a systematic procedure of insertion of Photovoltaic Systems (PVS) and verification of the electrical parameters of the grid; this is done through simulations using scripts developed in Python programming language; which will allow running power flow and short circuit simulations in the distribution systems analysis package; CYMDIST, of the CYME software. The simulations are performed with active generation quantities of the SFVs increasing at given steps up to a set limit subject to configuration. As results of the simulations, graphs are presented that identify SFV penetration safety zones, as well as minimum and maximum penetration levels for different installation scenarios.
