dc.description.abstractThis paper performs a technical and economic analysis of the energy production generated with and without the use of optimizers within the photovoltaic system installed at the Campus Balzay of the Universidad de Cuenca. The study technically analyzes the performance of the DC-DC optimizers, comparing an array of four panels without connecting the optimizers with an array of four panels considering the connection of the Tigo Energy optimizers, applying different shading patterns the energy production record is obtained for the days of analysis giving as a result a gain factor. The resulting gain factor for each shading pattern is used in conjunction with the plant factor of the photovoltaic system to determine the annual energy that would be obtained with the use of the power optimizers. Finally, the economic study is carried out considering equipment and generation costs.
